About the role:
The Board Liaison will play a crucial role in supporting the Board of Directors and the Office of the President of PJMF. The Board Liaison will serve as a primary point of contact for the Board, support and advise the Board on specific philanthropic initiatives, support external Board engagement, and support the Office of the President in designing and delivery of content for Board and committee meetings throughout the year.
This role will involve high level partnership support to Board members and the President, requiring exceptional ability in handling sensitive matters, stewarding decision-making processes, and designing Board engagement that enables the organization to achieve its strategic goals inside a trustee-led organization. This role will also include focused grantmaking support on the Board’s portfolio of grants, requiring strong analytical and project management support of the research and diligence process. This role reports to the Director of the Office of the President.
How you will make an impact:
- Supports the Board and staff in the tracking, cultivation, and diligence process for a portfolio of direct grantmaking activities
- Conducts research and analysis on grant proposals, special projects, and potential funding initiatives
- Provides thought partnership and support to the Board as needed on direct grantmaking, including focused project management on specific initiatives as well as providing a “big picture” perspective on how board activities ladder into the foundation’s broader strategic objectives
- Collaborates with leadership team, including the Vice President of Operations, as well as the Operations team to advance grantmaking opportunities
- In support of the President, acts as a point of contact for members of the Board and as an advisor on emergent questions and ideas coming from the Board
- Acts as a bridge between the Board and the organization, synthesizing Board activity and points of view and ensuring strong, productive communication between the Board and the Office of the President
- Schedules and manages logistics around Board and Board committee meetings in collaboration with the Operations team, as well as calendar management with partners, events, and potentially grant partners
- Takes notes and reports back key points discussed at all Board meetings
- Supports the overall design and cadence of Board engagement; plans and oversees the Board and Board committee calendars, and coordinates the design of Board meetings with the Chair, Trustees, President and operating leadership
- Guides the process of preparing and publishing of Board materials, working closely with operating team
- Acts as record-keeper for the Board, organizing and maintaining files of minutes, Board meeting materials, and other Board activities

- Capabilities - Analytical and data-driven approach, but willingness and ability to function in ambiguity and think creatively about problem solving and achieving goals. Experience with quickly compiling and designing text and graphical collateral for presentations is a plus
- Results-oriented - Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project management skills, and ability to efficiently manage multiple inputs
- Collaboration - Comfortable with startup context; strong ability to navigate and lead through ambiguity
- Cultural alignment - An advocate for social progress; interest in emerging technologies and their ability to advance societal outcomes
- 100% Remote - Desire to work remotely, but not alone - with mature, socially minded professionals

- Compensation – Anticipated starting salary range of $80,000-$120,000, with flexibility based on experience
